Starclimber

Sometimes, there are these books that are so interesting, so action packed, and so enjoyable that you just get addicted to that book.  Starclimber is one of those books.  In each of Kenneth Oppel’s books, there is a really fun and interesting theme, and he makes every part of the book just simply amazing.  In this book, Matt Cruse, Captain Walken, the captain of Aurora, Kate and a few others are going on a mission to reach space.  The French already are trying to reach space with a huge tower, but people called Babelites are set on not allowing the tower to reach space.  

There is a competition between 100 men to see who can be selected to be the first people to go to space.  This training is several weeks long and every day, trainees drop out.  In the end, 3 people get selected, but Matt Cruse is not one of them.  However, the next morning after the 3 astralnauts are selected, Captain Walken tells Matt that one of the 3 astralnauts broke his leg and wouldn’t be able to come on the mission, so Matt was their next choice.  Mr. Lunardi, the organizer of this whole mission created a new way to get to space, by having a super strong cable be attached to the ground and to a massive counterweight all the way in space, and having the ship, Starclimber climb up the cable using rollers.  They reach space successfully, but in space they encounter several problems, and they might not make it back home to earth…        As said before, what I really love about this book is that Kenneth Oppel makes this book so interesting, and the book gives you several heart stopping moments when you first read it, and that, and many other things make this book highly recommended by me.  I would absolutely, with no hesitation rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.  I just loved it so much.
